Mosquée liberty

with 6 comments

It is pre-dawn on a chill blue ocean and the mosque speakers come alive with a hiss and crackle and haunting song of the first call to prayer.

Allaaaaah hu Akbar.
Allah is great.
Hayya ‘ala-l-falah, hayya ‘ala-l-falah.
Hasten to real success. Come to prayer.

  1. ah, the early-morning calls to action: the rumbles of the city awakening, the calls to prayer, the rustling of the wind in the shrouds, the baying of horses; all of these I have listened to and ignored over the years, but I still love them :)

what do you enjoy most about the morning?

  6. i love the possibilities. i love how everything feels new when you watch the dawn, it’s like watching creation. and it is good. i like the lighting as it slowly builds, making everything soft and surreal.
